Egypt bans female circumcision

In Egypt are rather attempts to ban female circumcision by Decree

The Egyptian Parliament on Saturday passed a law that prohibits female genital mutilation. The vote went to weeks of heated debate in advance.

According to the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, the largest opposition party, there is "nothing in islam that forbids circumcision".

Proponents of a total ban denounce that the law on "medical necessity" still allows female circumcision and fear that that clause is being exploited.
