Salah-Eddine Bounasr wins first marathon in China

The Moroccan athlete Salah-Eddine Bounasr had his first marathon victory yesterday in the Guangzhou Marathon in China.

The race witnessed an exciting three-man race in the last kilometre. Bounasr, Ezekiel Omullo (Kenya) and Aamir Belachew (Ethiopia) after 37 kilometers were accelerated and the leading group. The trio remained almost four kilometres on an equal height to the 26-year-old Bounasr began to speed up.Belachew was the first that could no longer legs. In the last 100 metres Bounasr offered good resistance to a strong Omullo-that a personal record established by 2:08:55 while winning the Warsaw Marathon in september-and he drove forward to win in a time of 2:11:09.Bounasr stretched his arms out and roared loudly to celebrate his victory for breaking the finish Ribbon. After crossing the finish line down to the ground the emotional Moroccan k knelt to kiss and he burst into tears.
