70,000 stolen cars from Spain entered in Morocco

About 150,000 cars are stolen every year in Spain. Most of these cars are sold in Morocco, where they are imported through ports in the southern part of the Iberian Peninsula, in particular through Algeciras.

No less than 150,000 vehicles per year are stolen in Spanish territory, including about 70,000 in the two cities of Madrid and Barcelona. Most of these vehicles are transported to Morocco via the southern ports of the Iberian Peninsula, in particular through Algeciras, reveals a study published by the Spanish site "autobuild".

Traders, who usually choose the busiest days to to slip through customs, take their resort to forged documents to enter the cars, if they they are not dismantling into parts, Akhbar Al Yaoum reported today. The value of the stolen vehicles per year on Spanish territory amounted to no less than 2,190 billion dirham, thieves usually focus on luxury cars.

Beloved cars are especially the Seat Ibiza, VW Passat, Renault Mégane, Audit A4, Ford Escort, Seat Leon, VW Golf, BMW 3-series, Ford Fiesta and Focus.

The research shows that in the summer season the highest number of car thefts is registered.
