Region Kenitra-Salé-Rabat tourist gets boost
The region that is not so very known for its tourist venues, the next few years will be the catch up on suffered the better known tourist areas in the Kingdom, reports Moroccoworldnews.
The large-scale tourism projects include in a total of 21 hotels with an investment of 1.98 billion dirham. Morocco's vision for 2020 provides a total of 4,600 beds and the arrival of tourists 1,015,000.
The Regional Council of tourism (CRT) gives that the region currently has 57 hotel units, with a capacity of 5680 new beds. This amounts to 2.7% of the total capacity of 200,000 beds in Morocco.Â The number of arrivals reached 276,279 in 2016, an increase of 6% from 2015.
Last year a total of 568,091 overnight stays registered by registered accommodation companies, this means an increase of 2% and an occupancy rate of 55% towards 2015, added the CRT.
The region of Rabat-SalÃ©-Kenitra has 96 109 travel agencies, transport companies for tourists (buses) and 33 operative tourist guides.
