4 deaths and at least 20 wounded by London attack
At least 20 people were injured, reported the authorities. The perpetrator was shot after he had attacked officers outside the Parliament building.
The police assumes that there was one attacker. He would have been run with a vehicle on pedestrian on the Westminster Bridge. The car eventually collided on a fence at the nearby Parliament building. The driver would thereupon have attacked policemen with a knife.
Certainly not an agent survived the attack. Foreign Affairs Secretary Tobias Ellwood, according to British media tried in vain to save the life of the man. "He tried mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and to stem the bleeding from multiple wounds", said a source at The Telegraph.
Antiterreurchef Mark Rowley said at a news conference that multiple agents on the bridge have been injured. The car boasted three policemen. "This is a day where we have prepared us, but which we were hoping that he would never come. Unfortunately, it is now a reality, "said Rowley.
The police considers the attack for the time being, as a terrorist act. A European government official suggested Wednesday that researchers consider the possibility that the attacker was inspired by propaganda of terrorist group Daesh.
Worldwide, with disgust responded to the attack outside the British Parliament. Leaders extended their condolences to the British people and offered support.
The Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has his British colleague Theresa May, on behalf of all Dutch people, our feelings of dismay and unjustifiable ''. , We remain side by side with the British, fighting against terrorism. For freedom and for humanity. ''
