Journalist Medi1TV suspended for use of expression ' Western Sahara '

The television channel Medi1TV has announced that the ' strict ' administrative measures after a professional error of a journalist from the channel with respect to the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

The journalist Soumia Dghoughi, responsible for the production and presentation of the programme ' Africa Soir ' that last Friday evening was broadcast live, used instead of the term ' Moroccan Sahara ' the term "Western Sahara" to reference to the southern provinces of the Kingdom, reports medias24.

An investigation was opened to "the circumstances of this unacceptable act to reveal and to take the necessary legal measures", said in a published yesterday evening Medi1TV.

Having regard to the fact that the direct responsibility mainly lies with the journalist who this program produces and presents, she was immediately suspended from her work in anticipation of the end of the investigation and to any further to take necessary measures, the statement said.
