1 Moroccan blue helmet died and 7 injured after ambush in Central African Republic

A convoy of the UN's peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic ran yesterday in an ambush.

In the ambush died 1 blue helmet from Cambodia and were 7 Moroccan Blue Helmets wounded. Four peacekeepers kidnapped in the attack, including one Moroccan blue helmet. Three of those four blue helmets have been recovered, including the murdered Moroccan blue helmet. One blue helmet is still missing.

The incident took place when the Cambodian Blue Helmets returned to their base, accompanied by the Moroccan blue helmets. The Blue Helmets were part of an engineering unit that assists in the construction of roads, bridges and other infrastructure.

"The MINUSCA regrets to confirm that three of the four blue helmets, that have disappeared since the attack by Monday, have been found dead and the fourth is still missing," said MINUSCA in a statement.

The Moroccan Blue Helmets belong to the Royal Netherlands Army (FAR) and are part of the UN's peacekeeping mission '' (MINUSCA).

During an earlier attack in January of this year, even though 2 Moroccan Blue Helmets killed and two injured.
