Qatar Kuwait mediates in conflict with neighbors

The emir of Kuwait travels Tuesday to Saudi Arabia to talk with King Salman on the conflict between Arab countries and Qatar. Kuwait wants to mediate in the quarrel.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain Monday broke diplomatic relations with Qatar. Yemen and Libya joined them. They accuse the fabulously wealthy oil State to maintain its ties with terrorist groups and to destabilize the region.

The Kuwaiti Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah called all in Sheikh Tamim bin Hama al-Thani of Qatar, which thereupon postponed a planned speech to the population.

The emir also already mediated in 2014 in a conflict between the Gulf States. Sheikh Tamim "considers him as a father" and wants to give him the space to contain the issue, said the Foreign Minister of Qatar against the channel Al Jazeera.

Also the Turkish president Erdogan is trying to reduce the tensions. He telephoned with the leaders of Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Russia. In the conversations, the importance of regional peace and stability, said staff of the president.
