Ouarzazate: six-year-old girl died as a result of food poisoning

Three cases of collective food poisoning were in Ouarzazate.

The affected persons belong to the same family. It is a 30-year-old woman and her two daughters of respectively 6 and 10 years old, said a statement from the Ministry of health.

The patients were taken to the provincial hospital in Ouarzazate where they got the necessary care. Nevertheless, the 6-year-old girl died anyway, while the mother and the oldest daughter were transferred to another hospital in Marrakech.

The health of the oldest daughter is stable, while those of the mother as "critical" is considered, the source said adding that after this food poisoning the provincial health care unit an epidemiological screening in the House of the family concerned.

There were samples taken from food in the House and to the National Institute of health and the Regional laboratory for analysis and research under the Moroccan food and consumer product safety authority (ONSSA) sent for the necessary analyses.

In addition to these measures and pending the results of the analyses, ONSSA are regional services requested a preliminary investigation.
