Natural gas found near Chefchaouen

The national hydrocarbons and mines (ONHYM) has discovered natural gas in the Che-region of Chefchaouen.

ONHYM revealed in a statement that the first indicators of gas in the region were discovered in the Central and Southwest Research Center in the Western Basin North of Sidi Aaa Tazi.

This statement reflects also that during the excavations that were carried out by Gulfsands Petroleum, gas was found at 1153 meters depth and with a width of 16 meters. ONHYM says that after the analysis of these results the drillings near Douar Babuskov will begin.

In may 2015, the Minister of energy and mining, Abdelkader Amara, said that Morocco's natural gas needs will be five billion cubic meters in 2025, reports Moroccoworldnews.
