Macron in Morocco: Picasso, iftar and Al Hoceima (video)

The French president Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron yesterday afternoon arrived in Rabat for a friendly visit and a working visit, which followed an invitation of King Mohammed VI.

At the finish on the Rabat-Salé airport Macron's were received by King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid and Princess Lalla Oum Keltoum, Princess Lalla Salma.

Hereinafter referred to as the Macron's were welcomed by the head of Government, Saad Eddine El Otmani, the Interior Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and international cooperation, the Ambassador of Morocco in France and some other high-ranking officers and officials.

The Macron's were then invited to the traditional ceremony where milk and dates are offered.

Later in the day brought Brigitte Macron, Lalla Salma and Lalla Oum Keltoum visit the special exhibition with works by Picasso in the Museum of modern and contemporary art Mohammed VI in Rabat.

In the evening, invited King Mohammed VI are guests to the joint iftar (see image at article) in the Royal residence ' Dar Essalam ' in Rabat.

Macron today held a press conference in which he indicates that there is spoken on various topics, including Africa, the fight against terrorism, the crisis in the Gulf and Al Hoceima.

During the press conference told Macron to the media that the King "concerned" is about the protests in the Rif region, "a region that is very close to his heart is".

In response to the requests of a French journalist on the situation in Al Hoceima, Macron stressed that he "has no right to a ruling on a domestic policy". The French president stated, however, that the protests in the North of Morocco a matter of importance for the King.

The French Head of State also stated that unlike many other countries, the demonstrations in the country "in the constitutions are laid down" and that King Mohammed VI considers that they were "quite normal and legitimate".

According to the French president, the King expressed his wish that the situation will "calm down" and the "demands of the citizens in a concrete way in terms of public policy."

The North of the Kingdom is always the favorite summer destination of the King, and according to Macron he is "very concerned about the future of this region which is close to his heart."

Macron also said, "this visit to Morocco is similar to the relations between our two countries, based on a common vision and a desire to not only our common interests in Morocco, but also in the region and in Africa, to pursue".
