Souss: huge havoc after fire in OASIS near Assa

The fire that broke out on Friday 28 July in an oasis near Agadir, Assa in the region burned almost 2 days before it could be brought under control.

The fire was at extinguishing the blaze assisted by aid teams of the Royal armed forces. There are no injured, serious damage is, however, regrettable.

Palms and other agricultural plantation are completely destroyed by the flames, much to the disgust of the local population, of which the vast majority lives from agriculture.

According to the news site Le360 had the firefighters struggling to control the fire which had spread over a large area. There is an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
