Jordan King visits Palestinian territories

The Jordanian King Abdullah is visiting Monday for the first time in five years the West Bank.

He will be with the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas, among other things, the recent incidents on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem to discuss, said a spokesman for Abdullah.

The past few weeks was the restless on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, where both Jews and Muslims important shrines. The Jordanian King is formally the patron of the Islamic shrines, including the famous Al-Aqsa Mosque.

King Abdullah spoke with Abbas regularly in recent years, but the meetings usually took place in the Jordanian capital Amman. The last visit by the Jordanian King to Ramallah was in 2012.
