Fire in Mecca: pilgrims saved 391

391 pilgrims, all coming from India, were rescued from a fire that broke out earlier today in a residence intended for pilgrims in Mecca.

"The fire took place in a room on the seventh floor of a building where 391 Indian pilgrims were," said the spokesman of the Directorate-General for civil protection in Mecca to the Saudi News Agency SPA.

"The pilgrims were evacuated as a preventive measure and the fire is under control," he added.

There are no injured and there is an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
