Ministry of culture wants to Jbel Irhoud classify as international archaeological site
Jbel Irhoud is discovered by chance in the early sixties. Since then, a substantial number of fossils found, making Jbel Irhoud archaeological expeditions from around the world.
It was also on this place where the recent discovery of the oldest known remains of homo sapiens was created.
"The Ministry is currently working to classify Jbel Irhoud under national and world historical sites, having regard to its archaeological value for all mankind", said the Minister in a press statement to the Moroccan news agency MAP.
The region contains probably future archaeological discoveries that have an international impact, added L.
