18 dead last week by road accidents in Morocco

18 people were killed and 74 others were injured, of which 1740 serious road accidents in 1262, during the week of 14 to 20 August.

These accidents are mainly due to a lack of vehicle control, carelessness of pedestrians and drivers, failure to give priority, over speed, change direction without direction indicator to use, the ignoring traffic lights, in the opposite direction and/or forbidden drive, catch up where that is not allowed under the influence and driving, reports a statement by the Directorate General of national security (DGSN).

What the control and punishment of road traffic offences, the security services issued fines and 10,012 34,117 reports submitted to the public prosecutor. 24,165 fines were also collected, the statement said.

The same source adds that the amount received for fines 5,057,725 dirham, 4,298 vehicles were impounded by the municipality, 224 vehicles directly from the movement were seized and 5,490 documents were withdrawn.
