Meknes: Detainee shot dead in local prison
A detained man, classified in category A (very dangerous), is on Monday 25 september in Meknes died, reported the General delegation of the prison administration and reintegration (DGAPR) in a statement.
The detainee attacked the prison guards of the Toulal 2-prison to when they wanted to take him for the daily walk. He wounded in multiple officials, one of them suffered severe injuries to his head.
After several failed attempts to stop him and to calm down, a jailer was forced to fire bullets at him, the statement said.
The detainee was then around 12.00 pm at the Mohammed V hospital in Meknes, where he to 13:05 hours has died of the gunshot wounds.
The detainee was convicted in several murder cases. He was sentenced to the death penalty, but because no executions since 1993 Morocco run more this is in practice a life sentence. He also killed a police officer in court on the day of his trial and an employee of the central prison in Kenitra. He tried earlier to escape from lberki-Safi's Moul prison.
