The Spanish Minister for Home Affairs calls the cooperation with Morocco by ' invaluable '.

In an interview published by the newspaper La Razon, said the Spanish Minister, Juan Ignacio Zoido, also that Morocco "a friendly country, a partner and ally of Spain in the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking and illegal immigration".

Zoido stressed in the same context that "the close cooperation between Spain and Morocco on anti-terrorist matters led to 12 joint operations that led to the arrest of 175 extremist jihadists".

"It is only through unity and international cooperation that we put an end to terrorism, which wants to destroy our lives," said Zoido.

The Minister stressed that the "alarming rate" of radicalization in the European Union calls for the need to work on preventing and combating terrorism.

Zoido brought in August paid an official visit to Rabat, where he met Morocco's security officials, including the Interior Minister Pradeep Laftit. Zoido's visit was dedicated to "an Exchange at the highest level" with the Moroccan authorities concerning the investigation of the terrorist attacks in Barcelona earlier that month.
