Algeria: riots after death of boy tortured by police

A subsequent demonstration ran completely out of control.

In Aïn Beida, a town in the East of Algeria, was made yesterday a violent confrontation between protesters and the authorities. Killing a 25-year-old protester dead and dozens of people on both sides were injured, reporting various Algerian sources.

The demonstration took place after the death of a 19-year-old boy, who Monday was arrested by the police of Aïn Beida. At his release he told his family members that he was tortured during his imprisonment at the police station. The next day, the boy found dead on his bed.

At the subsequent demonstration demanded an investigation into the cause of death of the boy. The demonstration, however, ran out of control after the demonstrators fire founded, according to , with prolonged clashes between police and protesters and as a result.
