ONMT-Thomas Cook partnership: 1 million British tourists in 2020

The Moroccan tourist office ONMT has launched an intensive campaign in Britain to attract more tourists.

The British tour operator Thomas Cook and the Moroccan tourist office ONMT wants to increase the influx of British tourists to Morocco in the next three years, the Moroccan news agency reports folder.

A partnership was closed on the 2017 World Travel Market (WTM), held in London from 6 to 8 november, between the British tour operator and the ONMT.

"Our ambition is to the next two years to reach the threshold of one million British tourists," said Abderrafie Zouiten, Director-General of ONMT.

This flourishing market has over the past years a "very positive" evolution, stimulated by the increase in air services between Morocco and Britain, which rose from about 50 weekly flights to 90 flights currently in 2012, added He.

The number of British tourists that travel to Morocco, also exhibits a rising trend and this year there will be 700,000 tourists expected to come at 490,000 four years ago.

ONMT has launched an intensive campaign in Britain in the print media, trade journals, social networks and public transport. Under the title "Much Mor" (mor of more and Morocco), this communication campaign designed to encourage British tourists to visit the country for its multicultural facets, historical locations and gourmet cuisine.
