South Africa and Morocco will resume diplomatic ties (video)

The diplomatic ties between the two countries were broken 13 years ago.

South Africa and Morocco will resume diplomatic ties after more than a decade, Morocco has withdrawn its Ambassador from Pretoria, said the South African president Jacob Zuma in a newspaper interview that was published on Sunday.

Last week President Zuma had a meeting with King Mohammed VI in the margins of the African Union-European Union Summit that was held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

The diplomatic ties between South Africa and Morocco in 2004 were broken after the then South African president Thabo Mbeki decided to establish relations with the self-proclaimed Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and Morocco from protest recalled the Ambassador in Pretoria.
