King Mohammed VI sends message to Trump and calls with Abbas

N.a.v. posts that Trump wants to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as Chairman of the Al Quds Committee, today sent a message to the U.S. president. The King expressed his deep concern herein, as well as the concern of all Muslims, on the willingness of Donald Trump to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

"You are not aware of the crucial importance of the city of Al Quds, not only for the various parties to the conflict, but also for the believers of the three heavenly religions. With his religious specificity, its identity and its great history, and also the political symbolism, this city a city of living together, a standard of tolerance ", writes the King in his message.

King Mohammed VI also held a phone conversation with Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas. The King repeated during this conversation the strong and continued solidarity with the Palestinian people and the defense of the legitimate rights, especially with regard to the status of Al Quds.

The King also spoke strongly condemns any action that the character of the Holy City could compromise, or the legal and political status could change.

King Mohammed VI and the Palestinian president agreed to direct contact and to maintain an ongoing dialogue on this subject, as well as close coordination between the two Governments, to work together to take the steps and actions to identify.
