DUO should travel request data student

The Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO) of the Ministry of education may request data from a student trip to check out the student receives a scholarship for uitwonenden.

Although the DUO creates invasion of privacy of that student, but that infringement is allowed. This has the Centrale Raad van Beroep.

With that data of the travel behaviour are watching DUO or students wrongly a uitwonenden grant, while they lived at home. According to the Council there is invasion of privacy by querying the data, but is this justified by the goal: fight against fraud. The Council also considers that the data by itself is not enough proof that the student cheating it must especially be seen as additional evidence.

DUO has over the past years 377 times travel photo requested data from students at public transport chip card company TransLink.
