Palestinian president wants peace conference

Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas wants an international conference later this year on peace in the Middle East.

It would among other things also Israel and the permanent members of the UN Security Council.

He explained that Tuesday when he spoke as a guest at the UN Security Council in New York.

The Palestinians see the US no longer as the major mediator in the conflict and have called for a joint approach to the problem. Washington is in the Palestinian regard failed when president Donald Trump Al Quds recognized as the capital of Israel.

Immediately after the call for a peace conference, stated the US through UN Ambassador Nikki Haley "to be ready" to the conversation about peace in the Middle East.
