Fajr: 'A call for the World Cup depends entirely on my performance at Getafe'

Bank, base or invasion, Faycal Fajr you never hear nagging about his mostly limited role within the national team. The midfielder was almost the entire qualification series for the World Championship but, as befits a real professional and team player, it is far from rich.

Just as Hakim Ziyech, Munir and Hachim Mastour are internationals who were led in by former coach Badou Zaki, the same goes for Getafe's Faycal Fajr. The 29-year-old midfielder was pulled into the team by Zaki and made his first minutes in the jersey of the Lions of the Atlas and against Equatorial Guinea (red. 0-1 loss, second round World Cup qualification). Since then, the former player of SM Caen and Elche CF has become what they call a public favorite, and that while he has only kicked off a few times on behalf of the national team.


Despite his explicit presence during the 2017 Africa Cup and the entire World Cup qualifying series, the midfielder remains sober when it comes to World Cup participation. In conversation with the Spanish medium Marca he says the following about this:
